DESCRIPTION:A Reading-for-Pleasure Project for HEP Primary Schools\nThis twilight workshop is for teachers who have completed the Contingent Talk training. \nThis is the final network session for Nursery/Early Years practitioners led by Charlotte Raby. \nMain agenda for this session\n\nReflection – practitioners will report on the progress of the children they have worked with this year\nFilms – it is expected that all practitioners have a film of their Contingent Talk practice to talk about and upload to Padlet\nExit Survey – to be completed during the session\n\nWhat is Contingent Talk?\n\n10 minutes – once a week ‘Contingent talk with a book’ sessions with a trained adult.\nA simple child- centred approach to language learning through talk contingent on the child’s interest based around a book chosen by the child.\nAt least a term’s commitment to providing ‘Contingent talk with a book’ to each child chosen for the programme.\nIt will also be an opportunity to identify colleagues who will be involved in the training sessions.\n\nImpact:\n\nShared reading has a positive impact in children’s language development.\nDialogic reading styles are more effective at boosting children’s language development than a simple\, storytelling narrative style.\nInterventions based on dialogic reading styles have a positive impact on children’s expressive vocabulary.\n\nGet Hounslow Reading schedule\n \nFor more information\, contact n.standing@hounsloweducationpartnership.co.uk

DESCRIPTION:Hounslow School Leadership Cluster Programme 2021/22\nLed by Dr John Yates\nThis is the fifth of six online webinars. \nThis online session will be 3.5 hours in length and available to view during a three-week window from – \nTuesday 24th May until Tuesday 14th June 2022 \nThe 2021/22 programme\nThe six-session cluster leadership programme for the senior teams of Hounslow primary schools has been very well received for the decade in which it has been running.\n \nThe 2021/22 programme will build on the work done last year. In addition to keeping participants up-to-date with key national developments\, the focus will be on ensuring schools make the most of this rare opportunity to take the initiative and prioritise the developments which the profession know to be right as we prepare children not only for the next phase of education but also for life in an increasingly challenging world. \nThe developments include: \n\nbuilding a curriculum that will equip children for life\nbecoming an even stronger values-led school\ntaking the personal development of pupils to a deeper level\nshaping teaching and learning in readiness for the future\nmaximising the job satisfaction and fulfilment of the workforce\n\nIn addition\, the ongoing focus on strengthening school-wide leadership\, school /Trust-wide teamwork and partnership working will remain a priority. \nFull details can be found here.
