DESCRIPTION:Using Staff and Pupil Post-Incident Reflection as a tool for reducing challenging behaviour\nWednesday 29th June 4pm – 5.30pm\, via Zoom  \nThis cross phase training will be delivered by Helen Tyzack from Woodbridge Park Education Service. \nIn this session we will look at effective relationship management and the affect cycle.   \nThe focus will be on the affect cycle – understanding how our emotions and behaviour affect the behavioural and emotional responses of others\, therefore becoming part of an escalating cycle of confrontation.   \nWe will look at how to lead staff to reflect on challenging behaviour/a challenging incident\, through reflectively recounting an incident\, eg –  \n\nWhat was the build up to the behaviour displayed? \nWhat do you know about the pupil today?  \nWhat was the trigger?  \nWhat did staff do? \nDid this de-escalate or escalate the situation?\n\n \nThere is limited capacity for this training\, so book now!

DESCRIPTION:Using the Pupil Passport Toolkit to work with pupils with challenging behaviour\nWednesday 22nd June 4pm – 5.30pm\, via Zoom  \nThis cross phase training will be delivered by Helen Tyzack from Woodbridge Park Education Service. \nThis session looks at how the Pupil Passport Toolkit is used to develop practical strategies for supporting pupils in distress.  \nThe session will look at the link between the Attachment Theory and a child’s social emotional development.  In particular\, the impact adverse childhood experiences and trauma have on a child’s ability to self-regulate.   \nUsing this model\, we have developed the Pupil Passport Toolkit which looks at pupils’ strengths and talents\, as well as the triggers and cues that indicate that a child is showing signs of distress.  Through the use of de-stressing strategies such as mindfulness and zones of regulations\, we can learn how to positively support them during times of crisis\, and ultimately help them to develop the skills of self-regulation. \nAims – \n\nTo identify their feelings and levels of alertness\nEffective regulation tools\nWhen and how to use the tools\nProblem-solve positive solutions\nUnderstand how their behaviours influence others' thoughts and feelings\n\nAnd ultimately ...  \n\nIndependent Regulation\n\nThere is limited capacity for this training\, so book now!

DESCRIPTION:A Reading-for-Pleasure Project for HEP Primary Schools\nThese workshops are for teachers who have already registered for the full project. \nThis is the first of two network sessions for Nursery/Early Years practitioners led by Charlotte Raby. \nMore details to follow in due course. \nWhat is it?\n\n10 minutes – once a week ‘Contingent talk with a book’ sessions with a trained adult.\nA simple child- centred approach to language learning through talk contingent on the child’s interest based around a book chosen by the child.\nAt least a term’s commitment to providing ‘Contingent talk with a book’ to each child chosen for the programme.\nIt will also be an opportunity to identify colleagues who will be involved in the training sessions.\n\nImpact:\n\nShared reading has a positive impact in children’s language development.\nDialogic reading styles are more effective at boosting children’s language development than a simple\, storytelling narrative style.\nInterventions based on dialogic reading styles have a positive impact on children’s expressive vocabulary.\n\nGet Hounslow Reading schedule\n \nFor more information\, contact n.standing@hounsloweducationpartnership.co.uk
