SUMMARY:John Yates Primary Leadership – Session 6
DESCRIPTION:Hounslow School Leadership Cluster Programme 2020/21\nLed by Dr John Yates\nFor members who have booked the full programme. Online webinar (available for 72 hours) each half term offering high quality structured and strategic thinking and planning time for Headteachers\, Deputies and Senior Leaders. \nThe purpose of the sessions has always been to provide senior teams with structured\, high quality strategic thinking time\, consistent with the underlying theme of ‘getting ahead and staying ahead’. \nGiven the nature of this year’s challenges the initial sessions focused on survival – how best to ensure the immediate and short-term challenges could be successfully met. \nThe remaining sessions for this school year will start to focus on longer-term priorities to ensure that schools in the post-pandemic world will be positioned to prepare children even more effectively for life in a changing and increasingly challenging world.

SUMMARY:Get Hounslow Reading – Contingent Talk with Books – Nursery/EYs Leaders
DESCRIPTION:A Reading-for-Pleasure Project for HEP Primary Schools\nThese workshops are for teachers who have already registered for the full project. \nThis is the first of five sessions for Nursery/Early Years Leaders to plan for the training sessions. \nWhat is it?\n\n10 minutes – once a week ‘Contingent talk with a book’ sessions with a trained adult.\nA simple child- centred approach to language learning through talk contingent on the child’s interest based around a book chosen by the child.\nAt least a term’s commitment to providing ‘Contingent talk with a book’ to each child chosen for the programme.\nIt will also be an opportunity to identify colleagues who will be involved in the training sessions.\n\nImpact:\n\nShared reading has a positive impact in children’s language development.\nDialogic reading styles are more effective at boosting children’s language development than a simple\, storytelling narrative style.\nInterventions based on dialogic reading styles have a positive impact on children’s expressive vocabulary.\n\nGet Hounslow Reading schedule\n \nFor more information\, contact n.standing@hounsloweducationpartnership.co.uk

SUMMARY:Meet the Expert - History
DESCRIPTION:From intent to impact – planning for coherence and depth in primary history with Andrew Wrenn \nHow can we keep primary history engaging while still meeting OFSTED expectations to teach in greater depth? This practical course will show how schools can structure their curriculum maps so that pupils accumulate more knowledge over time but still capture their interest in the subject. It will demonstrate how to plan through rigorous enquiry questions that revisit important concepts and themes at regular intervals across the key stages.
