SUMMARY:Get Hounslow Reading – Contingent Talk with Books – Nursery/EYs Practitioners
DESCRIPTION:A Reading-for-Pleasure Project for HEP Primary Schools\nThese workshops are for teachers who have already registered for the full project. \nThis is the second of five sessions for Nursery/Early Years practitioners. \nWhat is it?\n\n10 minutes – once a week ‘Contingent talk with a book’ sessions with a trained adult.\nA simple child- centred approach to language learning through talk contingent on the child’s interest based around a book chosen by the child.\nAt least a term’s commitment to providing ‘Contingent talk with a book’ to each child chosen for the programme.\nIt will also be an opportunity to identify colleagues who will be involved in the training sessions.\n\nImpact:\n\nShared reading has a positive impact in children’s language development.\nDialogic reading styles are more effective at boosting children’s language development than a simple\, storytelling narrative style.\nInterventions based on dialogic reading styles have a positive impact on children’s expressive vocabulary.\n\nGet Hounslow Reading schedule\n \nFor more information\, contact n.standing@hounsloweducationpartnership.co.uk
