SUMMARY:Domestic Abuse - Training – Session 1
DESCRIPTION:The popular course will be facilitated by AVA (Against Violence and Abuse) over two twilight sessions taking place on 5th & 12th October 2021.  The training is offered free of charge to schools and numbers are limited. Please make sure you are able to attend both sessions of the training on consecutive weeks. \nThis funded training will look at Domestic Abuse theory and specifically how children are affected. Focus will be given to behavioural\, emotional and cognitive effects on children\, as well as the impact on parenting for both the abusive and the non-abusive parent. \nYou will: \n\nExpand on existing knowledge of and experience in domestic violence work\nExplore examples of good practice and projects\nLearn about the impacts / indicators of domestic abuse on children\nLearn about how to respond to disclosures from parents and children\nLearn how schools can engage safely with parents\nLearn how to undertake safety planning and risk assessment with children\nBuild confidence in challenging myths and stereotypes.

SUMMARY:Vulnerable Schools SEND Group
DESCRIPTION:The Vulnerable Students and SEND Group (VSSG) is set up to deliver a more strategic and coherent approach to supporting vulnerable students\, and to ensure ongoing improvement in SEND working between the LA and Hounslow Schools. \nThe VSSG will work in close partnership with the LA to the benefit of all member schools\, high needs funding spending and VSSG membership funding. Communication between the group and wider LA teams will be through their representatives. \nThere will be five meetings held annually\, spread across the three terms. Smaller working groups may be identified to pick up on particular streams of development work. \nThe purpose of the meetings: \n\nDevelop\, quality assure and review the service offers or commissioned work for member schools – eg Woodbridge Park KS4 partnership working\, Gateway service offer\, Alternative Provision bought on behalf of member schools such as Fresh Start and Trading Places\nThe working and outcomes of Fair Access Panel (FAP) placements and managed transfers\nConsider feedback from member schools on their needs in order to investigate further potential service developments\nAdvisory group for SEND provision and improved communication strategies
