A Reading-for-Pleasure Project for HEP Primary Schools

These workshops are for teachers who have already registered for the full project.

This is the last of six workshops for Year 5 & Year 6 teachers.

This graduation session will also be an opportunity to set up Get Hounslow Reading ambassadors in preparation for year 2 of the project

Ambassadors will help new teachers to develop their expertise and knowledge of children’s literature, reading aloud and its impact, focusing on:

The Reading for Pleasure research and pedagogy
Teacher knowledge of children’s literature, poetry and non-fiction
Teachers as readers
Teacher knowledge of children’s reading lives.
How to grow an authentic reading for pleasure practice
Reading communities and reaching parents
Diversity in books – does our book stock reflect our children’s lives?
How to read aloud with prosody
The impact of prosody on comprehension
