The Vulnerable Students and SEND Group (VSSG) is set up to deliver a more strategic and coherent approach to supporting vulnerable students, and to ensure ongoing improvement in SEND working between the LA and Hounslow Schools.

The group's key focus will be to have strategic oversight to identify key risk factors that impact the children and young people of Hounslow, supported by a series of working groups to achieve the best outcomes for member schools relating to the following themes:

Crime relating to schools
Transition
Fair Access/managed moves/exclusions/alternative provision
Building stronger partnership and ways of working with the LA SEND teams
Improved outcomes for Special Schools working as HEP members
Building the school-to-school offer
Raising awareness of the local offer
SEND action plan and recovery

There will be three meetings held annually, spread across the three terms. Working groups across Primary, Secondary and SEND will be formed to drive forward particular streams of development work.

The purpose of the meetings:

Setting the groups strategic priorities for social vulnerability and SEND
Agreeing specific target outcomes
Directing the focus of the specific working groups
Consider feedback from member schools on their needs in order to investigate further potential service developments
