Senior Leaders of Teaching and Learning (SLTL) is a well established, active and engaged group who meet on a half-termly basis. The group is chaired by a HEP Secondary Headteacher who is also responsible for providing feedback and information flow both from and to HEP
Secondary Headteachers. Members both support and challenge one another, share experiences and collaborate in order to collectively raise standards through continued school improvement.
Objectives:
- To develop professional relationships between colleagues from different schools facilitating ongoing peer support
- To provide a forum for discussing the impact of and responses to emerging challenges specifically related to teaching and learning (e.g. assessment, targets, QA, recruitment and retention)
- To facilitate sharing and development of good practice specifically related to teaching and learning (e.g. within school improvement, curriculum development and design, assessment)
- To provide a mechanism for efficient and effective consultation and information flow between SLTL, their schools and HEP on programmes such as Subject Networks (SN) and Post-16 Pedagogy in Practice (PPP), which in turn supports middle leaders’ CPD
- To identify new areas of need; using that to both refine existing programmes and design and develop new initiatives
