3rd March 2021 – Year 9 students attend virtual careers event –

HEP is pleased to report that the Hounslow Virtual Careers Fair, organised by Chrissy Humphrys, subject leader of CEIAG, was launched across Secondary schools; a first of its kind event, with a welcome video to students from Hounslow alumnus, Seema Malhotra MP.

Visitors engaged with:

  • 199 different employers
  • 23 schools/colleges
  • 129 exhibitors
  • 3000 people on site at the exact same time
  • Between 90 and 100 students watched every alumni presentation
  • Average time on the website was 20 minutes
  • Around 250 chats took place

Here is a message from the organisers –

Thanks to all of you for taking part in our first virtual careers fair. Whilst we did encounter some technical issues, unfortunately due to the amount of traffic on the site, it was after all our first attempt and we can only improve in the future. Our borough-wide project sponsored by the Mayor of London funding was a huge success as you can see from the statistics below. The highlights were certainly the exhibition booths that looked fantastic and the theatre that showcased our amazing presentations.”

What our members say

Get Hounslow Reading – “Excellent session, Charlotte has extensive knowledge and understanding and I am really looking forward to being involved in the project.”

Secondary Subject Networks – “I’ve really appreciated sharing practice, discussing challenges with colleagues and having a sense of being part of a wider team for small departments.”

Primary Subject Leader Networks – “I really like the idea of subject specialists leading subject leader meetings.”

SEND Training – “There was plenty of time for discussion which was valuable. Strategies to help support, and ideas to consider, if children have been impacted by Domestic Abuse allowed me to think about the issues more than before."

Deep Dive Subject Leader Training – “Thank you for the very detailed and thorough subject leader checklist. It is an extremely useful and much necessary exercise. It's been an eye opener. Thank you”

Develop your A Level Teaching – “Really interesting to hear what other schools are thinking of doing by way of a recovery curriculum when we return. I think the discussions around wellbeing were very pertinent.”
