Writing Ambassador programme for HEP Primary Schools in partnership with St Mary's University, Twickenham
Aimed at KS1 and KS2 teachers who have completed one year of GHW.
Ambassador programme – from Year 2
Teachers who have completed one year of GHW will automatically become teachers-as-writers Ambassadors for their school.
In Year 2 of the programme, they will work with the St Mary's team, meeting half -termly for one hour to conduct action research.
The programme will be run by senior lecturers from St Mary's University, Twickenham:
- Finola Utton and Jo Head (KS1)
- Kerry Assemakis and Karen Fox (KS2)

Sessions will take place online, via Teams, on Wednesdays, 1-2pm:
- 1st October 2025
- 12th November 2025
- 21st January 2026
- 25th February 2026
- 22nd April 2026
- 3rd June 2026
Research shows that teachers who write, teach writing best. Being a teacher writer is crucial to the development of young writers, fostering a writing for pleasure ethos, and is a core professional responsibility.
