Aimed at:
Teachers and practitioners from Primary, Secondary and Special schools
Theme:
In this session, you will get expert advice, from Charlotte and the Ambassadors, about how to adapt your practice to help children access books and develop a genuine love of reading.
Together you will look at the following:
- Reflecting Realities Report (CLPE, November 2025) – looking at ethnicity
- Inclusive books for children – looking excluded voices
- Book Trust – shared reading that is appropriate for our communities
We will look at reflecting the realities of our communities through:
- Case studies – learning about our students and the books they’re interested in
- Social reading environments – bumping into books
Reflections will include:
- Where do we go to get support and guidance?
- Our own knowledge of our communities, auditing our book collections and making a plan.
