Transition Day – 6th July – Update

Published: Tuesday, June 29th, 2021 at 10:14 AM

On behalf of Secondary Headteachers –

Following on from a meeting of Secondary Headteachers, it would appear that most schools will not be planning to host transition days on Tuesday 6th July 2021. As highlighted previously, schools have identified specific contexts that would make it impossible and they will be letting their feeder schools know their plans.

Given the continuing rise in positive cases in the borough, and specifically localised outbreaks within LBH, most schools are now offering alternatives to incoming Year 7's such as remote 'getting to know you' sessions, providing access to virtual tours on school websites, support through summer schools and in some instances providing a Y7 only day at the start of next term.

Secondary Headteachers would like to thank Primary Headteachers for their understanding at this time. In most cases the secondary will have informed their primary feeders of the changes however if you require further information please do not hesitate to contact the school for updates.

What our members say

Get Hounslow Reading – “Excellent session, Charlotte has extensive knowledge and understanding and I am really looking forward to being involved in the project.”

Secondary Subject Networks – “I’ve really appreciated sharing practice, discussing challenges with colleagues and having a sense of being part of a wider team for small departments.”

Primary Subject Leader Networks – “I really like the idea of subject specialists leading subject leader meetings.”

SEND Training – “There was plenty of time for discussion which was valuable. Strategies to help support, and ideas to consider, if children have been impacted by Domestic Abuse allowed me to think about the issues more than before."

Deep Dive Subject Leader Training – “Thank you for the very detailed and thorough subject leader checklist. It is an extremely useful and much necessary exercise. It's been an eye opener. Thank you”

Develop your A Level Teaching – “Really interesting to hear what other schools are thinking of doing by way of a recovery curriculum when we return. I think the discussions around wellbeing were very pertinent.”
